Senator Todd Gardenhire takes Oath of Office as 114th General Assembly Convenes

(NASHVILLE) – State Senator Todd Gardenhire, R-Chattanooga, officially began his fourth full term in the Tennessee Senate on Tuesday as he took the Oath of Office during the opening session of the 114th General Assembly. The ceremony took place in the Senate Chamber in Nashville, where other newly elected and reelected senators were also sworn in to their new terms. On Thursday, Gardenhire was also reappointed chairman of the Judiciary Committee by Lt. Governor McNally.
"It’s an honor to once again serve Senate District 10 in the State Senate," said Gardenhire. "It matters who governs. I am committed to upholding the Tennessee values that have made our state one of the best governed in the nation. "
Lt. Gov. McNally spoke highly of Senator Gardenhire after reappointing him as chairman.
“Senator Gardenhire is a strong conservative who understands the need for a tough-on-crime approach. His first session as chairman was a great success and yielded many positive results for the people of Tennessee. I look for more great things from the Judiciary Committee this year.”
Sen. Gardenhire was re-elected in November to serve another four-year term. Gardenhire has served in the Senate since 2012. Additionally, Senator Gardenhire currently serves as Chairman of the Judiciary Committee. Aside from his legislative duties, Gardenhire has over 40 years of expertise in the financial industry.
A longtime resident of East Tennessee, Senator Gardenhire lives in Chattanooga with his wife. He is a proud father of four and grandfather of five.
