Senator John Stevens takes Oath of Office as 114th General Assembly Convenes

(NASHVILLE) – State Senator John Stevens, R-Huntingdon, officially began his fourth term in the Tennessee Senate on Tuesday as he took the Oath of Office during the opening session of the 114th General Assembly. The ceremony took place in the Senate Chamber in Nashville, where other newly elected and reelected senators were also sworn in to their new terms.

"Thank you to the people of District 24 for giving me the opportunity to serve another term in the Tennessee Senate," said Stevens. "It is a true privilege to pass legislation that benefits West Tennessee, and I do not take that responsibility lightly. I am eager to get back to work and continue making a positive impact."

Sen. Stevens was re-elected in November to serve another four-year term. First elected to the Tennessee State Senate in 2012, he represents Northwest Tennessee and was the first Republican to represent Obion and Weakley counties in the state senate. Beyond his legislative duties, Senator Stevens is a licensed attorney .

A longtime resident of West Tennessee, Senator Stevens lives in Huntingdon with his wife and two daughters.
